Alright, so I haven't updated every day like I said I would. But I must say that I would rather work out and not post than not work out and post.
The last two weeks I have worked out three days each week. My workout is an interval-training that works on intensity rather than distance. In other words, instead of trying to run two miles a day at a moderate to slow jog, I run two 120 yard sprints at moderate paces and six 120 yard sprints at full speed. By raising the intensity of each run, you get the body to use alternative fuel (that sounds funny) that it otherwise would not use unless it's desperate. Along with some good stretches and exercises (mainly legs), I feel as if I have a lot more energy and flexibility.
This week, I am adding the following things:
- Instead of having just a cup of coffee each morning, I now also have two eggs (scrambled) and a glass of milk. By jumpstarting my metabolism each morning, it adds more energy to my day and causes me to burn it even when I'm just sitting at my desk. Supposedly if you drink three glasses of milk a day it helps you lose weight. It's worth a shot. I also take a pill of Vitamin-C (to help with the immune system) and another pill called CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), which reportedly helps with weight loss. Before you panic, know this: the recommended dose of CLA (by the container) says that I should have two pills twice each day (four pills in total). I only am taking one pill a day. If nothing else, I'm introducing something into my system.
- During the day, I will have a snack before lunch. Right now I'm on granola bars with a little yogurt, but I'm hoping next week to have a bowl of cereal (more milk!).
- At lunch I am giving up my carbonated beverage for a bottle of water. Hopefully it will make some improvements along with the nutritious lunch (If I have salad, I'm also going to attempt to use less dressing...)
- After my workout each day, I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and an apple to help with the weight burn. By eating after a work-out, you increase your metabolism and supply the energy loss that you burned off (how that makes sense, I'm not sure).
- Finally, at night I plan on having a delicious strawberry smoothie made with ice, milk, yogurt, and real pieces of strawberry. Yum! Who said eating healthy doesn't taste good?
Alright, back to school. Things are beginning to look up! Four more weeks to go before the first checkpoint!
